Decomposition Changes: While submersion in cool water typically slows decomposition, the initial heat exposure fundamentally alters the body's condition. The resulting "cooked" remains will decompose differently, and the presence of heat artifacts (like heat hematomas in the skull) are important for forensic investigators to recognize and distinguish from pre-mortem injuries.
